Arts Council Funded Aerial Circus Show about Conserving, Sustaining, Protecting and Regenerating our Environment.
Dear families of the Temple Cloud Circus,
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! After conducting a survey among the students of Temple Cloud Circus and discovering their interest in protecting and conserving the environment, we applied for funding to run an environmental show in September 2022. We have finally received approval to move forward with the project on March 24th from the Arts Council.
We would like to extend an invitation to you/your child to participate in this unique opportunity. To provide you with more details about the show and what it entails, we have compiled the following information. If you are interested in getting involved, please let us know as soon as possible.
Our inaugural environmental conference is set to take place, featuring local speakers who will explore ways to sustain, regenerate, and conserve our environment. We aim to raise awareness and promote education about practical solutions and opportunities for environmental volunteering with local organizations. By taking action together, we can create a greener future for all.
After the conference, we plan to showcase a unique performance by our circus students called the Environmental Ensemble. This will be an exciting opportunity for our students to collaborate and create a show about the environment, which will be supported by various Circus teachers and professionals such as Selina, Charlie Jack, Acasha, and Hayley. We are still waiting for confirmations on their availability to support this project and attend the rehearsal dates. The rehearsals for this performance will be a 10-week course, costing only £1 to book, and will culminate in a performance as part of the Temple Cloud Festival on June 9th and 10th.
The Environmental Ensemble performance is part of an environmental conference, which will feature local speakers sharing information about projects related to conserving, sustaining, protecting, and regenerating our environment, as well as information on volunteering opportunities. The cost of attendance to this conference and the Environmental Ensemble Circus Show on Saturday 10th June will be only £3 to make it accessible to everyone as we believe it is an important topic for all of us.
The aerial aspect of this Ensemble has been thoroughly risk assessed, and students will work in groups of four or three for Triples Trapeze.
This opportunity is limited to a certain number of our young students, so please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested. We will send you the finalised rehearsal schedule and booking link, which will cost only £1. Please note that 1 adult ticket per show per child will also need to be booked at the cost of £10 per ticket, as children require one parent present during the performances. If you are not interested in participating, please inform us so that we may offer this opportunity to someone else.
The proposed rehearsal schedule is below, and if there are any rehearsals you are unable to attend, please email me those dates in advance so I can confirm if missing them will be safe. With this Ensemble, there is an allowance for missed rehearsals, this is because performers will work in groups or 3 or 4 to create an act. We hope synchronised aerial where each performer will only be on the aerial kit for 1.5mins each, so they will not require as much stamina or fitness level if they were to be doing a solo 4min actI feel this is a good balance to take into account both safety and students’ needs who have other commitments.
The show requirements stipulate that students can only use moves they already know, and also that they are booked for a term of classes with us through April, and May. The purpose of the show is to focus on creating a performance about protecting our environment, and students will have complete creative freedom as long as the performance remains family-friendly and aerial time is limited to 1.5 minutes per student.
This is a unique opportunity for students to work together with creative freedom to produce something around the theme of the environment, and this process will be supported as much as possible by Temple Cloud Circus.
Details about Show times can be seen here on the Line up Page:
Please find the proposed rehearsal schedule below. Please note: Look at schedule for the ENVIRONMENTAL ENSEMBLE ONLY (not showcase or Labyrinth moon, as those schedules are only for performers booked in to those shows). We will confirm with interested students the finalised schedule before making bookings available.
